Our Thoughts on Adoption

We are excited at the prospect of welcoming another child into our home.  We have seen firsthand the blessings and joys adoption can bring as our daughter, Danielle, is adopted.  Lisa was able to be in the delivery room at her birth.  Friends and family waited by the phone for updates and visited her in the hospital as soon as they were able.  We are so grateful to her birth parents.  They are wonderful and selfless and we have a good relationship with them.  We also keep in contact with her maternal grandmother.  They see Danielle on occasion (they live in another state) and we keep them updated via emails and pictures.  They are wonderful people and we admire them greatly.

When Danielle was born, she had many friends and family visit her.  At least five baby showers were held, given by friends, family and church members.  She received gifts from all over the world including homemade quilts and fresh orchids from Thailand.  Everyone we knew was very excited for us!  Lisa was able to be present at her birth and made calls during the day to friends and family to give updates.  The nieces and nephews were gathered and waiting at grandma and grandpa's for the big news.  When it came, they all came to the hospital to see her.  It was a huge family event and fun and exciting for everyone!

We also have several friends and family members who have adopted.  Two of them have adopted from China.  Lisa’s cousin has adopted two children.  One of Lisa’s best friends adopted a daughter and another of our friends has adopted two boys through LDS Family Services.  All of them have been wonderful in their support to us in building our family. They are so grateful to the couples that gave them the opportunity to have families, and so are we!
